Ceramic Coating in Oklahoma City: Spray vs. Real Coating

September 12, 2026 · 5 min read · Frogman Detailing

Search ceramic coating Oklahoma City and you'll get two different products wearing the same name. One is a spray applied after a wash that buys you a few easier months. The other is a real coating: paint polished first, then a ceramic layer bonded to the clear coat that lasts years. We do both, and they are not interchangeable. The spray is done where the car is parked. The coating is done at our shop. This post exists so you book the right one.

What a real ceramic coating is

A ceramic coating is a chemically bonded layer applied after the paint is corrected. That means washing and decontaminating the paint, machine polishing out the swirls and haze, wiping every panel back to bare clear coat, then applying the coating panel by panel and checking it for high spots. It's most of a day of work. You're paying for the polish and the prep; the coating is the part that keeps that result from going away.

Done right, it's the longest-lasting protection you can put on a daily driver. Water sheets off, red dirt and pollen rinse instead of bonding, bugs wipe off before they etch, and the gloss you see when we leave is the gloss you keep.

What a ceramic spray is

A ceramic spray is a topper. After a wash we mist it on and wipe it off, and for a few months water beads and dirt lets go a little easier. It costs a few dollars and takes a few minutes. It does not correct anything and it does not bond the way a coating does. It is a fine thing to add to a regular detail. It is not a ceramic coating, whatever the bottle says.

We offer it as the Ceramic Spray Protection add-on on an exterior or inside-and-out detail. Current pricing lives on the services page.

Why the polish matters more than the bottle

A coating locks in whatever is under it. Coat over swirls and you have shiny, protected swirls for years. That's why our Ceramic Coating package includes a single-stage machine polish by default, and why we inspect the paint under light before anything starts. Most daily drivers need one stage. Paint that's been through years of brush washes sometimes needs a second, and we tell you that at the inspection, not after.

It's also why the price moves. The coating is the coating; what changes is how many hours of polishing your paint needs to be worth coating. We confirm the stages at the inspection before we start, and the quote is the price.

Oklahoma will test either one

Red dirt, I-40 bugs, and a summer that cooks clear coat wear on everything. A spray needs reapplying at every detail. A real coating shrugs most of it off for years with basic care: wait out the cure window before the first wash, skip the automatic brush washes, use a pH-neutral soap, and rinse off bird droppings when you see them. We put the aftercare in writing before we leave.

How to choose in one minute

Use this, not a sales script:

  • You plan to keep the car and want the paint protected and glossy for the long haul: book the Ceramic Coating package.
  • You want a regular detail with a little extra slickness for the next few months: add Ceramic Spray Protection.
  • You just want the car washed and shiny this week: skip ceramic entirely and book the exterior.

We coat cars for the whole OKC metro, including Edmond. The coating is done at our shop near Chisholm Creek. We can pick the car up and bring it back, or you can drop it off. If all the car needs right now is a little extra slickness, book a detail and add the spray. That one happens where the car is parked.

Free quotes and flexible scheduling. We detail the car where it sits, or we pick it up and finish it at our shop.
